About NYOTA Project

Are you seeking for entrepreneurial or apprenticeship opportunities from Kenya government? If yes, we’re glad to announce that the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project is ongoing.

As the KYEOP initiative which aimed towards solving the rate of unemployment within Kenya youth was getting to an end, a newly invented project, NYOTA similar to it was invented.

If you never had your chance with Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project (KYEOP), NYOTA also aims towards empowering youth.

Categories of NYOTA Project 2025

If you’ve missed out on KYEOP, the good news is that you apply for the NYOTA project. Here’s are the opportunities currently available at NYOTA:

1. Apprenticeship & Employment

The target of this category is to provide training and employment opportunities for youths in different trades. Technical skill to boost your employability is key here.

Here are the things you should note about NYOTA apprenticeship & employment.

• Youths applying must be within 18 – 29 years but 35 years is allowed for those with disabilities.
• The program training will last for five (5) months for trades in digital, create, grey and blue economies.
• After the 5 months training, successful participants shall be given a certificate recognized by NITA. The name of this certification shall be known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). After this, you will be ready to employed into any industry or sector.

2. Support for Entrepreneurship

Persons interested in this category must also between 18 to 35 years including the disable.

This part of the project focuses of youth who already have necessary skills or business but are in need of start-up capital, mentorship & coaching, business development services, awareness and relevant partnership.

3. Youth Savings

This category of the Kenya National Youth Opportunities seeks to provide savings plan, incentives, HABA HABA scheme, financial literacy training and partnership with NSSF to provide value and overall success to youths.

4. Capacity Build Youth to Transact with Government

This aspect focuses on organizing building of youth on catalytic funds like the Women Enterprise, Youth Enterprise Fund, Hustlers Fund etc. with aims to provide above 5% provision on tenders.

Requirements for NYOTA Application 2025/2026

To be eligible for NYOTA project, be it that you are applying for the training, grant, an opportunity to access the labor market, you are required to meet the following requirements;

• Age: The official approved age for NYOTA project is 18 to 29 years but persons with disabilities are allowed up to 35 years.
• Academic: Candidates applying should have at least form 4 education or below.
• Employment Status: Those that are unemployed, underemployed or maybe in low-tier employment can apply.
• County Eligibility: Interested persons from all the 47 counties of Kenya can free apply.

• Go to NYOTA application link www.nyotaproject.go.ke/how-apply
• Under opportunities, select either apprenticeship, start-up support or savings program
• Confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria
• Proceed to fill the application form online or at NYOTA approved centers
• After that, names of successful beneficiaries will be released

How to Register for NYOTA 2025 Using USSD

• Simply dial *254# on your mobile device
• Select NYOTA project from the options given
• Provide details of information needed
• Be sure that the information you enter match your National Identity Card and SIM registration details.

N/B: Understand that NYOTA application form and process for cycle 1 is totally free of charge, therefore refrain from anyone or site that requires payment in other to help you sail through the process.

Requirements for Each NYOTA Project Category

1. Grants

To get the grant of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement, you must adhere to the following strictly;

• Being aged between 18 and 35 is essentially required
• Applicant must have an existing registered business
• The business must have been registered under the name of a youth (you) —a youth-owned business

2. Certification

To be certified in your craft under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project, here are the requirements you must satisfy;

• There is no age limit
• You must be proficient in a certain skill or craft which is useful to the society and has economic relevance viability
• Candidate applying must be willing to undertake training in order to upgrade their skills

For the opportunity to access the labor market and the training and work experience, there are no specific requirements needed, adhering to the general requirements is more than enough.
