The latest news concerning the Uganda People Defence Forces (UPDF) recruitment is that process is starting from Monday 1st July to 14th July, 2024 for the intake of nine thousand, six hundred and twenty seven (9,627) regular forces into infantry forces.
Interested persons are to visit the online recruitment portal to fulfill the application requirements and submit form on or before the set deadline.
UPDF Recruitment 2025 to 2026 Application Form
The application form for UPDF soldier recruitment is accessible via the online career portal at www.updf.go.ug/careers. Without the careful filling of this form, your application will be considered invalid.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
The eligibility criteria for this recruitment exercise includes been a citizen of Uganda with acceptable means of identification. You must get recommendations from LCI, LCII, LCIII, GISCO and DISO.
UPDF Recruitment 2025 Date and Centers
The process is officially kicking off from July 1 to 14, 2024 across the following zones are will be eligible to apply; Buganda, Busoga, Bukedi/TESCO, Mid-western, Kampala Extra, Rwenzori Region, Northern, Karamoja/Sebei, West Nile, Western etc.
Uganda Peoples Defence Forces Recruitment Requirements
To sail through this recruitment exercise, below are the requirements you must meet. Note that this process is fair and transparent and candidates will only be shortlisted based on merit.
Nationality: All candidates applying for UPDF recruitment must be a citizen by birth and have a National ID card.
Qualification: You must have a minimum formal education of S.4 (UCE) from 2020 to 2023 and must have passed both English language and Mathematics.
Medical Condition & Age: Only applications from candidates between 18-22 years will be accepted. Also you must be medically and physically fit.
Other Requirements: Your application letter must be signed by either LCI, LCII, LCIII chairpersons while GISO or DISO and RDC are mandatory.
Candidates with criminal record are not allowed to apply, also you must be a resident of area and a discipline individual.

How to Apply for UPDF Recruitment 2025/2026
Here are the step by step guidelines on how to successful apply for the ongoing Uganda Peoples Defence Forces recruitment.
Step 1: Application and Recommendations
Prospective applicants who wish to join the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) regular force must get recommendations from the following officials LCI, LCII, LCIII, GISO, and DISO. After securing these recommendations, candidates must submit their completed application forms to the office of the RDC. Here, they will be registered and await collection by UPDF teams. These teams will forward the applications to the Joint Staff Human Resource Management office for shortlisting.
Step 2: Shortlisting
The names of successful applicants will be published and displayed on District and City notice boards. Shortlisted candidates will be instructed to appear at designated recruitment centers for their final interviews.
Step 3: Recruitment Based on Population Figures
The recruitment process will be guided by the projected population figures of each District and City in Uganda. These figures will form the basis for the recruitment quotas.
Step 4: Quotas for the Recruitment
Recruitment quotas are determined by the population proportion of each City and District, based on the latest population update from UBOS as of June 25, 2023.
Step 5: Nationwide Recruitment
The Regular Force Recruitment for 2023/24 will take place across the entire country, covering all 135 districts and 11 cities in Uganda.
In summary, visit UPDF application portal, download the application form and fill, attach copies of recommendation letter, National and educational certificates and submit.
Security pass shall be given to all applicants as the recruitment process will last for at least fifty six (56) days including the submission, verification and final shortlist of successful applicants.
UPDF Recruitment Deadline 2025
All applications must be submitted on or before 14th July, 2024 for both Uganda Airforce, Navy and Army. Entries after the closing date shall not be regarded.

Greetings, Hope all is well and this too finds you well.
Am Dhabuliwo Jonathan,a s6 Leaver and also former C/P UNSA Council Bugweri district.
Am requesting to be enlightened for, more about the required Science combination from the senior six leavers.
Because following Gen Felix Kulayigye’s speech about the Recruitment, the Science combinations speechified were PCM, BCM,PEM,MEG in particular asiding BCA which is also a Science combination and actually where I also fall or categorized. If possible I request that it should be also included.
Lastly, most senior six leavers have the passion to operate in fields like Computer Forensics in particular more so I myself, cyber security, computer science and so many others in general as stated by Gen Kulayigye but majority have only one subsidiary and in most cases a principle pass in Agriculture not the said combinations, However, committed, with passion and zeal towards serving in UPDF under the said professional Careers.
In a nutshell I request that let the Recruitment committee re sit and try considering us too. Let’s Major in Major not in Minor.
