About Kenya Marine and Fisheries Institute (KMFRI)
As a unique corporation owned by the government, Kenya Marine and Fisheries Institute (KMFRI) operates under the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economic and Maritime Affairs, State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries.
Officially, the institute was founded in 2013 with the primary function of undertaking research in the marine and fresh water fisheries, aquaculture, environmental and ecological studies.
The institute has so grown after its establishment and currently has research centers in over ten cities in Kenya including Mombasa and Nairobi.

Eligibility Criteria for KMFRI Recruitment 2025
The factor that distinguishes who can apply for KMFRI jobs or not are:
Citizenship: The management of KMFRI demands that applicants of the above vacancies must hail from Kenya, have a valid National Identity Card or Passport and as well reside in the country.
Character Assessment: Applicants with criminal record are not allowed to submit application for these jobs.
Clearance Certificates: According to chapter 6 of the constitution, candidates applying must have clearance certificate from relevant bodies such as; HELB, KRA, DCI etc.
Age: Applicant must not be below the age of 20 years.

Requirements, Qualifications and Experience
Congratulations if you met the general criteria for KMFRI recruitment, below are the position based requirements. In this case, you must not meet all the requirements except for ones peculiar to the position you wish to apply.
1. Director General/Chief Executive Officer
Education: Applicants of this role must have a Doctorate, Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in either Natural Resources Sciences or any other related discipline from approved institution (s). Professional qualification and membership relevant to academic discipline is a plus.
Experience: Candidate is expected to have nothing short of fifteen (15) years’ experience where 8 of those years must have been in Senior Management position. You must have at least 20 reviewed publications in ISI – indexed journals.
Requirements: Proficiency in relevant computer applications, good communication, analytical, organization, interpersonal and conflict management skills are required.
2. Principal Resource Mobilization Officer
Education: Candidates seeking for this role must have a Bachelor’s degree in either Commerce, Project Management, Corporate Communication, Community Development etc. from a recognized institution. At least C+ in KCSE and a Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
Experience: Applicant must possess an overall minimum of six (6) years’ experience and 3 of these years must have been in senior or managerial position.
Requirements: Attending a Negotiation or Persuasion and Resource Mobilization skill course for not less than two (2) weeks is mandatory, Must be a computer literate and possess good reporting, interpersonal, strategic, communication and negotiation skills.
3. Senior Legal Assistant
Education: Candidates that apply for this role must have at least a Diploma in law, KCSE C- and possess Services certificate or equivalent qualification.
Experience: A total of three (3) years’ work experience is demanded.
Requirements: Knowledge of computer applications, report writing and communication skills.
4. Driver
Education: Candidate must have a minimum of D+ mean grade in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Occupational Trade Test III certificate, First Aid Certificate course and a valid driving license to drive all classes of vehicles.
Experience: Applicant must have experience as a driver for at least one (1) year.
Requirements: Good communication, reporting and interpersonal skills as well as been a computer literate.
